[Roentgen examination of the operated small bowel (author's transl)]

After operations on the small bowel roentgenology shall help in the diagnosis of complications (suture insufficiency, peritonitis, hemorrhage, ileus), shall analyse the modified function and shall identify reappearing tumors or Crohn's disease. Watersoluble jodated substances are preferable during the first days. Later barium suspensions permit to obtain pictures of good quality. Middle and lower segments of the small bowl are best analysed with duodenal intubation. Pneumocolon gives often the best results in controlling ileocolic anastomosis.
