    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the surgical outcomes and mortality rates for patients with esophageal reflux disorders and hiatus hernias.
    • To compare the effectiveness of different surgical approaches, including fundoplication and dilatation with antireflux operations.

    • A retrospective analysis of 359 patients who underwent surgery between 1948 and 1977.
    • Follow-up averaging 7.3 years to assess patient outcomes.
