    • Mitochondrial phospholipase A2 (PLA2) plays a role in cellular processes.
    • The precise localization and activation mechanisms of mitochondrial PLA2 are not fully understood.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the activation of mitochondrial phospholipase A2 by divalent cations.
    • To determine the localization of mitochondrial PLA2 within the mitochondrion.

    Main Methods:

    • Isolated mitochondria were treated with calcium (Ca2+) and strontium (Sr2+).
    • The effect of ruthenium red, a calcium transport inhibitor, on enzyme activity was assessed.
