    Area of Science:

    • Hematology
    • Oncology
    • Cytogenetics

    Background:

    • Lymphoblastic lymphoma is an aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
    • Limited data exists on clinical and cytogenetic features and treatment outcomes.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the clinical characteristics, cytogenetic findings, and treatment outcomes of lymphoblastic lymphoma.
    • To identify prognostic factors influencing patient survival.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective analysis of 12 patients with lymphoblastic lymphoma.
    • Clinical data collection including demographics, disease presentation, and treatment regimens.
    • Cytogenetic studies performed on available patient samples.

    Main Results:

    • Median patient age was 24.5 years, with a male predominance (5:1).
    • Common presentations included mediastinal mass (10/12), bone marrow involvement (8/12), and central nervous system (CNS) involvement (5/12).
    • Complete remission was achieved in only 2/12 patients, with a median survival of 11.5 months, shorter in patients with CNS or leukemia involvement.

    Conclusions:

    • Lymphoblastic lymphoma is an aggressive malignancy with poor treatment outcomes.
    • Central nervous system involvement and leukemic phase are associated with worse prognosis.
    • Novel therapeutic strategies are essential to improve survival rates.
