Abstract:
The effect of benzaldehyde on the proliferation of HeLa cells was studied in the present work. Benzaldehyde caused a dose-dependent reduction of the proliferation of HeLa cells in vitro. This effect of benzaldehyde might be caused principally by a reversible and mild growth modulation, since no serious morphological damage was observed. Delay of the S and G2 periods in the cell cycle upon addition of benzaldehyde was observed by the pulse-labeling technique using 3H-thymidine.
