Some recent advances in the management and prevention of blindness and visual disability

Advances in the prevention of blindness and in the treatment of conditions leading to poor vision owe much to the development of advanced instrumentation for diagnosis as well as treatment. Examples of advances are cited in relation to diabetic retinopathy, macular disease, cataract, ocular injuries and microsurgery.
