The clinical management of giant papillary conjunctivitis

Abstract:
Giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC) has recently been observed on the upper tarsal palpebral conjunctiva in soft contact lens patients. This article describes and discusses a group of patients who developed GPC. From these observations, a simple clinical procedure was devised to manage this problem while the patient maintained soft lens wearing time. The procedure included changes in the lens polymer, design, and cleaning regimen, which together enabled the affected patients to continue soft lens wear.
