    Summary

    Severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in pregnancy is rare. This case study highlights successful management of a pregnant patient with severe COPD experiencing respiratory distress and premature delivery.

    Background:

    • Successful respiratory support was achieved in the postpartum period.
    • The mother and neonate both experienced a positive outcome.

    Implications:

    • This case underscores the importance of specialized, aggressive care for pregnant patients with severe COPD.
    • Effective management strategies can lead to favorable outcomes for both mother and child in high-risk pregnancies.
    • Further research into optimal management protocols for severe COPD in pregnancy is warranted.
