    Summary

    Platelet monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity is reduced in male patients with migraine, tension, or cluster headaches. This low MAO activity appears to be a persistent feature in some individuals.

    Background:

    • Platelet monoamine oxidase (MAO) is an enzyme involved in neurotransmitter metabolism.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate platelet monoamine oxidase activity in patients with different types of headaches.
    • To determine if low MAO activity is a persistent feature in headache patients.
