[Status and development of neurology]

In view of the foundation of a section Neurology in the Society for Psychiatry and Neurology of the GDR, the present situation of neurology in the country is discussed. The formation of such a section comes up to the stage of development reached and the requirements of a further development of neurology. The joining of the neurologically active and the neurologically interested persons in one section serves the promotion of scientific life and the further development of the cultivation of scientific relations with partner socientific and neighbouring disciplines and, last but not least, the improvement of the medical care of neurologic patients.
