    Prior exercise at 60% and 75% of VO2 max impairs endurance performance, while lower intensities show no significant effect. This suggests prior exercise is beneficial only for maximal or supramaximal tasks, not high-intensity endurance activities.

    Background:

    • Prior exercise (PE) can influence subsequent exercise performance.

    • Understanding PE's impact on endurance tasks is important for training optimization.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the effect of varying intensities of prior exercise (PE) on subsequent endurance task (ET) performance.
    • To determine if PE at different percentages of VO2 max impacts oxygen consumption and lactate levels during ET.
    • To assess the utility of PE for different types of exercise intensities.

    Main Methods:

    • Five male subjects performed a 20-minute prior exercise (PE) at 30%, 45%, 60%, and 75% of VO2 max.
    • A 1-minute rest followed PE before initiating the endurance task (ET).
