Atypical thyroid carcinoma: atypical follicular or atypical medullary carcinoma?

Abstract:

The authors present a case of an atypical thyroid carcinoma with characteristics which, at light microscopy, are suggestive of a medullary carcinoma. However, ultrastructural study suggests an atypical follicular carcinoma. The differential diagnosis is discussed.
