[Surgery in pregnancy from the radiologist's point of view (author's transl)]

Radiological examinations should be limited to day 10 post menstr. Low doses result in extremely insignificant somatic and genetic risks. The latest recommendations of the German Radiological Society are designed to protect pregnancy. Doses between 1 to 2 rad/rem are to be estimated, those up to 10 rad/rem should be calculated, and doses up to a maximum of 20 rad/rem must be measured. Sonography and endoscopy are to be given preference. Maximum radiological protection requires methods that keep the doses down to a minimum, such as: photography by image intensifier, T. V.-fluoroscopy, and video-tape recorder.
