    Summary

    This study validates the Stimulus Intensity Modulation (SIM) dimension in older adults. Findings show SIM, measured by the Kinesthetic Aftereffect (KAE) task, correlates with social engagement and life perceptions.

    • The perceptual style-personality dimension of stimulus intensity modulation (SIM) was previously studied in young adults.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the validity of the Stimulus Intensity Modulation (SIM) dimension in two elderly samples.
    • To explore the relationship between SIM and social engagement, perceived life difficulty, attitudes toward death, sleep, future planning, and smoking in the elderly.
