    Severe hypercholesterolemia slightly increases platelet sensitivity but doesn't shorten lifespan. Reduced platelet survival is linked to age and atherosclerosis, not just high cholesterol.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate platelet aggregation and survival in individuals with severe hypercholesterolemia.
    • To determine if hypercholesterolemia directly impacts platelet lifespan.
    • To explore the correlation between platelet parameters, atherosclerosis, and patient age.

    Main Methods:

    • Platelet aggregation was measured using epinephrine and adenosine diphosphate.
    • Platelet survival was assessed in twelve subjects with severe hypercholesterolemia.
