IgG antibodies to pollen allergens in children with rye-grass lung sensitivity

This study determined the changes in the amount (Abt) and relative avidity (Krel) of antibody to a purified rye-grass pollen extract during the rye-grass pollen season in 15 asthmatic children. For the group, there was a significant rise in Abt pre- to mid-season and fall mid- to post-season (p less than 0.05), but no consistent changes in Krel values during the study were seen. Asthmatic children with and without bronchial reactivity to rye-grass pollen extract showed similar Abt and Krel changes during the study.
