    Summary

    Temporal arteritis can affect the brain, causing intracranial vasculitis. High-dose steroids effectively treated the condition, normalizing brain scans and cerebrospinal fluid findings.

    Background:

    • Temporal arteritis, a form of large-vessel vasculitis, can present with neurological complications.
    • Intracranial vasculitis is a serious manifestation requiring prompt diagnosis and management.

    Observation:

    • A 61-year-old male exhibited symptoms suggestive of temporal arteritis.
    • Abnormal radioisotope brain scan and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis indicated intracranial vasculitis.

    Findings:

    • The patient showed a dramatic clinical improvement with corticosteroid therapy.
    • Cerebrospinal fluid abnormalities showed a delayed response to treatment.
    • Persistent high-dose steroid treatment led to the normalization of both CSF and brain scan findings.
