    Summary

    Achilles tendinitis can be an inflammatory reaction to calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate (CPPD) crystal deposits, particularly in elderly patients with idiopathic articular chondrocalcinosis. This condition may present with asymptomatic calcifications that can resolve after inflammation subsides.
