    Summary

    Neonatal heart rate variability (NHRV) in preterm infants is linked to postnatal age and heart rate. Decreased NHRV indicates respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) severity and can predict mortality in these vulnerable infants.

    Background:

    • Neonatal heart rate variability (NHRV) is a key indicator of autonomic nervous system function.

    • To investigate the relationship between NHRV and various physiological and clinical parameters in preterm infants.
    • To determine the utility of NHRV as a predictor of morbidity and mortality in preterm infants, particularly those with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS).
