    Summary

Two congenital anomalies in the suprasternal notch, a cyst and a sinus, were identified. Histology confirmed subcutaneous bronchogenic cysts, distinct from deeper structures.

    Area of Science:

    • Anatomy
    • Embryology
    • Pathology

    Background:

    • Congenital anomalies in the suprasternal notch are rare.
    • Understanding their embryological origin is crucial for diagnosis.

    Observation:

    • Two cases of congenital anomalies presented in the suprasternal notch.
    • One anomaly was a cyst, and the other was a sinus.

    Findings:

    • Surgical exploration revealed no communication with deeper anatomical structures.
    • Histological examination confirmed the lesions as subcutaneous bronchogenic cysts.
    • These findings align with existing literature on similar lesions.

    Implications:

    • Distinguishing these cysts from branchial fistulas is important for accurate diagnosis.
    • Further research into the embryogenesis of suprasternal anomalies may be warranted.
