[A surgeon's experiences in the treatment of stress ulcer with cimetidine]

61 patients with acute stress ulcers were treated with cimetidine. Additional surgical treatment was neccessary in 5 patients. 27 patients died from complications. In none of these patients the gastrointestinal haemorrhage caused the fatal outcome.
