Qualitative photostress testing for the diagnosis of cystoid macular edema

The qualitative photostress test is a simple kinetic test for the evaluation of macular function. The physiological basis of the test is discussed and the results of testing 20 normal patients and 14 postoperative cataract patients are presented. Patients with CME have a severe functional defect that is readily demonstrated with photostress testing.
