[Sympathicoblastoma in adults (author's transl)]
Abstract:
The article reports on 61-year old female patient with sympathicoblastoma. This disease is seen in only 0.5 - 6.5% adults. 60 - 70% of the patients are less than 5 years old, whereas about 20 - 30% are younger than 20 years of age. 75% of the tumors are metabolically active with increased excretion of catechol amine metabolites. Detailes x-ray examinations must be made besides laboratory tests. Treatment can be effected by surgery, radiotherapy and pharmacotherapy.
