Abstract:
The authors have analyzed results of the treatment of 234 patients with obturation jaundice. In half of thepatients jaundice was caused by stones in the common bile duct. Frequently jaundice was caused by cancer of the pancreas head, stenosing papillitis, chronic pancreatitis. Transduodenal transcapillary choledochopancreatography should be included into the complex preoperative examination for earlier diagnosis of the disease. This method gives timely diagnosis of mechanical jaundice and hence results in earlier surgical intervention.
