    Summary

    Serum myoglobin (MGB) is elevated in muscular dystrophy patients, particularly Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and Becker muscular dystrophy (BMD). MGB testing may aid in identifying carriers of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

    Background:

    • Myopathic disorders are associated with muscle damage and elevated serum biomarkers.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the frequency and significance of elevated serum myoglobin (MGB) levels in various myopathic disorders.
    • To compare MGB levels with creatine kinase (CK) levels in patients and carriers.
    • To evaluate the utility of serum MGB as a diagnostic marker for Duchenne muscular dystrophy carriers.

    • Serum MGB levels show potential as an adjunct diagnostic tool for identifying carriers of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).
    • Further research is warranted to fully elucidate the role of MGB in muscular dystrophy diagnostics and carrier screening.
