Summary

This study on carotid endarterectomy for transient ischemic attacks (TIA) found that surgery on the stenosed carotid artery resolved symptoms in most patients. The procedure, performed on patients with one occluded and one stenosed internal carotid artery, showed a 5% mortality rate.
