Insights
This study treated 2672 traumatic radial head subluxations over 11 years, primarily in young children and women. Conservative treatment was effective for all cases of pediatric elbow injuries.
Area of Science:
- Orthopedics
- Pediatric Traumatology
- Musculoskeletal Injuries
Background:
- Traumatic radial head subluxation is a common elbow injury in children.
- Understanding the epidemiology and treatment outcomes is crucial for pediatric orthopedic care.
Purpose of the Study:
- To analyze the incidence and demographic distribution of traumatic radial head subluxations.
- To evaluate the effectiveness of conservative treatment for these injuries.
Main Methods:
- Retrospective analysis of 2672 cases of traumatic radial head subluxation treated over 11 years.
- Data collection included patient age, sex, and treatment modality.
Main Results:
- The study identified 2672 cases over an 11-year period.
- The injury predominantly affected children aged 1-4 years (61.4%), with a higher incidence in females.
- All cases were successfully treated using conservative repositioning techniques.
Conclusions:
- Traumatic radial head subluxation is most prevalent in young children, particularly girls.
- Conservative management is a highly effective treatment strategy for this common pediatric elbow injury.
Abstract:
During a period of 11 years 2672 traumatic subluxations of the radial head have been treated. This accident are mostly be found from 1--4 years of patients, especially in 61.4% in women. The reposition was in all the cases conservative.
