    • The extinction coefficient at 280 nm for thyroglobulin from normal and goiter thyroids was measured.
    • E1%280 values (0.6-0.7 to 0.9 ml.mg-1.cm-1) correlate with iodoamino acid content and thyroid morphology.
    • A straightforward method using protein absorption spectrum analysis for E1%280 determination is presented.
