    Summary

Angiography revealed arteriovenous fistulas in three patients, spontaneous in one and trauma-related in two. Early diagnosis and surgery significantly improved liver function and recovery.

    Area of Science:

    • Vascular Surgery
    • Diagnostic Imaging
    • Hepatology

    Background:

    • Arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) can occur spontaneously or secondary to trauma or surgery.
    • Hepatic damage is a potential complication of AVFs, emphasizing the need for early diagnosis.
    • Angiography is a crucial tool for diagnosing and evaluating AVFs.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To report the angiographic findings of AVFs in three patients.
    • To highlight the role of angiography in AVF diagnosis and management.
    • To assess the impact of surgical intervention on hepatic function.

    Main Methods:

    • Angiographic demonstration of arteriovenous fistulas.
    • Surgical intervention for AVF.
    • Assessment of hepatic function before and after surgery.

    Main Results:

    • Three cases of AVFs were identified via angiography.
    • Causes included spontaneous occurrence (1) and post-surgical/traumatic (2).
    • Surgical treatment led to notable improvement in hepatic function in all patients.

    Conclusions:

    • Angiography is essential for diagnosing AVFs.
    • Early diagnosis and surgical treatment of AVFs can prevent or reverse hepatic damage.
    • Surgical correction of AVFs results in significant hepatic function recovery.
