Abstract:
Stercoraceous perforation of the colon is mainly observed in patients with chronic renal failure. Pathophysiology and clinical feature is demonstrated on the basis of the experience with 10 patients. Prophylaxis of stercoraceous formations is important, for after the perforation prognosis is very poor: only 1 patient survived. Surgical therapy consists of resection of the whole involved colon with out primary anastomosis.
