Cost containment in laboratories

The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) established a Department of Management Services in 1979. Its major function is the implementation of the Cost Effectiveness Program, developed for O.H.A. by Woods Gordon and funded initially through a grant from the Ontario Ministry of Health. A team of OHA consultants has developed a process through which a hospital can collect workable operations improvement ideas from its frontline workers at all levels of the organization up to the chief executive officer. In order to share these ideas, OHA's Cost Effectiveness Program Consultants have compiled the following cost containment ideas for laboratories.
