[Local recurrence of rectal cancer after abdomino-transsphincter rectum resection]

Results of the restorative radical treatment of rectal cancer by combined anterior and transsphincteric approach are still spare. This method of curative low resection of the rectum may be complicated by local recurrence due to tumour cell implantation from the widely opened anorectum into the large soft tissue and bowel wound. Two such cases were observed in a minor series.
