[Interaction characteristics of the influenza virus and macrophages in realizing an immune response]

The role of macrophages in stimulation of humoral antiinfluenzal immunity was studied. Account was taken of the cell function and virus ability to realize its genetic information in the cells. Studies on interaction of the native influenza A virus with rat and mouse macrophages have shown that the macrophages participate in the immune response induction. The magnitude of the antigenic stimulus correlated with the virus dose and was not related to the phagocytic activity of the macrophages. Proceedings from the data on viral and molecular biological examination, the rat macrophages were attributed to the cell systems that are non-permissive for virus synthesis. These systems demonstrate the synthesis of RNP-structures and seem likely to have a disturbed translation of virus-specified polypeptides.
