Self-control of the effects of alcohol intoxication

After drinking alcohol in an experimental setting, social drinkers who were asked "to try to stay sober" demonstrated better memory and hand coordination and a more serious mood than did social drinkers who were not similarly motivated but had comparable blood alcohol levels.
