    Summary

Early-stage urinary bladder cancer (stages T1-T2) offers a good prognosis with adequate treatment. However, advanced stages (T3-T4) have a poor outlook, highlighting the need for prompt diagnosis and intervention, especially for hematuria symptoms. Smoking is a major risk factor.

    Area of Science:

    • Urology
    • Oncology
    • Public Health

    Background:

    • Primary urinary bladder cancer affects a significant patient population.
    • Treatment modalities include surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy.
    • Prognosis varies significantly based on cancer stage.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To analyze and compare treatment outcomes for urinary bladder cancer patients.
    • To evaluate the prognostic significance of cancer stage and presenting symptoms.
    • To review the etiological factors, particularly smoking, associated with bladder cancer.

    Main Methods:

    • Categorization of 231 patients into 4 treatment groups.
    • Analysis of treatment combinations (surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy).
    • Comparison of patient outcomes with existing literature data.

    Main Results:

    • Excellent prognosis for T1 stage and good prognosis for T2 stage patients with adequate treatment.
    • Disappointing prognosis for the majority of T3 and T4 stage patients.
    • Hematuria is a critical early symptom requiring immediate investigation for T1 stage diagnosis and cure.

    Conclusions:

    • Prompt diagnosis and treatment are crucial, especially for early-stage bladder cancer.
    • Smoking cessation is strongly recommended to mitigate the risk of bladder cancer.
    • Public health initiatives focusing on smoking prevention are vital.
