[Long-term results after yttrium treatment of the knee joint]

A group of 30 patients was followed for 5 and 8 years after yttrium treatment and the results are reported. There had been a significant pain relief. However, there was no definite improvement of swelling. Two and 5 years after the treatment the groups of patients who were in the ARA-stages I and II were significantly better than the patients in the ARA-stage III. The patients' sex and age and the duration of the disease had no influence on the general results.
