    Summary

    This study shows that some disfluencies adapt during repeated readings with delayed auditory feedback (DAF). However, part-word repetitions persist, suggesting they are the most fundamental disruption under DAF.

    Background:

    • Delayed Auditory Feedback (DAF) is known to induce speech disruptions.
    • Previous research yielded mixed findings on the adaptability of disfluencies under DAF.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the adaptation patterns of different disfluency types during repeated oral readings under DAF.
    • To identify which disfluency types are most resistant to adaptation.

    • Participants repeatedly read a text five times while exposed to bilateral DAF.
    • The frequency of specific disfluency types (dysrhythmic phonations, part-word repetitions, reading errors) was quantified for each reading.
