    Background:

    • Serotonin is recognized for its toxicity to testicular function.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the relationship between spermatic vein serotonin levels and varicocele in infertile men.
    • To assess the impact of elevated serotonin on sperm parameters in patients with varicocele.

    Main Methods:

    • Spermatic and peripheral vein serotonin levels were measured in 42 infertile men with varicocele undergoing surgery.
    • Sperm parameters including motility, viability, and morphology were analyzed.
    • Patients were categorized based on spermatic vein serotonin levels relative to peripheral levels.

    • 64% of patients exhibited spermatic vein serotonin levels equal to or greater than peripheral levels.
