This is the first documented case of retrovesical chondrosarcoma, a rare tumor. Surgical treatment, including pelvic evisceration, resulted in no recurrence or metastasis.

    Area of Science:

    • Oncology
    • Surgical Pathology

    Background:

    • Retrovesical sarcomas are exceptionally rare tumors.
    • Chondrosarcoma is a malignant tumor arising from cartilage cells.

    Observation:

    • This report details the first documented case of a retrovesical chondrosarcoma.
    • The patient presented with a retrovesical mass requiring surgical intervention.

    Findings:

    • The patient underwent a radical surgical procedure involving pelvic evisceration.
    • An ileocecal conduit and colostomy were created for urinary and fecal diversion, respectively.
    • Post-operative follow-up revealed no evidence of local recurrence or distant metastasis.

    Implications:

    • This case highlights the possibility of chondrosarcoma occurring in the retrovesical space.

    Related Experiment Videos

  • Radical surgical resection can be an effective treatment for retrovesical chondrosarcoma.
  • Further research into the management of rare retrovesical tumors is warranted.
