Pain, exocrine insufficiency and diabetes mellitus are the main symptoms which may lead to physical unfitness for work in patients with pancreatic disease. A diagnostic program is described apt to support an expert judgement about the status of the pancreas. Ultrasonic examination of the pancreas and measuring of stool fat are the main procedures of this program.
