    Background:

    • Intracranial meningiomas are common primary brain tumors.
    • Surgical resection is the primary treatment, but recurrence and advanced stages pose challenges.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy of preoperative and postoperative irradiation in managing intracranial meningiomas.
    • To assess the role of radiotherapy in different meningioma subtypes and clinical scenarios.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective review of 18 patients with intracranial meningioma treated with 60Cobalt or Linear Accelerator (Linac) irradiation.
    • Analysis of outcomes based on irradiation timing (preoperative/postoperative), tumor type, and clinical presentation.

    • Radiotherapy is a valuable adjunct to surgery for hemangiopericytoma-type meningiomas, especially in advanced or recurrent stages.
    • Irradiation may help suppress recurrences in other meningioma types, though more data is needed.
    • The study highlights the differential response of meningioma subtypes to radiotherapy.
