Physical mapping of the genes controlling adenovirus paracrystal formation

The genetic properties and physical mapping of the genes controlling adenovirus-induced paracrystals were examined by means of a new, simplified technique. The induction of paracrystals was virus-strain dependent and blocked by several temperature-sensitive mutations. Using interserotypic recombinants between a paracrystal-producing and a non-producing strain of adenovirus, the principal paracrystal determining factor was mapped between coordinates 30 and 44 on the 100-unit adenovirus genome.
