Hydra mesoglea: a model for investigating epithelial cell--basement membrane interactions

    Summary

    Hydra cells attach to their own mesoglea, a basement membrane-like substance, but not to standard cell culture plastics. This finding offers new avenues for studying cell-matrix interactions.
