[Administration of cyclophosphamide determines the lowering of serum cholinesterase levels]
Abstract:
Reduced plasma cholinesterase activity results in prolongation of the neuromuscolar block caused by succinylcholine and in prolonged apnoea. Cyclophosphamide administration, even at low dose, causes a prolonged fall of serum cholinesterase levels. This effect induced to take the necessary precautions in patients submitted to preoperative chemotherapy.
