Effects of Varidase buccal tablets on the sputum
Clinical Therapeutics
|January 1, 1980
Abstract:
Samples of sputum were collected from ten patients with chronic respiratory diseases following treatment with Varidase (streptodornase and streptokinase) buccal tablets, four tablets per day for a period of seven days, and were compared with specimens obtained before the therapy in terms of rheological and cytochemical parameters. The study revealed a tendency for the respiratory secretion to show a lowered yield point and a decrease in mucous fibers after the therapy, thus suggesting, to some extent, the efficacy of the drug as an expectorant.
