    Summary

    Synovial chondromatosis can be misdiagnosed. Normal variants of the suprapatellar pouch, like plicae synovialis, can mimic synovial masses, avoiding unnecessary surgery.

    • Avoiding unnecessary arthrotomy can prevent patient morbidity and reduce healthcare costs.
