Abstract:
The ambulatory treatment of hemorrhoids using sclerosants such as quinine, phenol and polidocanol, is called for in certain cases of hemorrhagic internal hemorrhoids. An endoscopic examination is carried out before the sclerosant treatment is begun. This form of treatment rarely induces either local problems, such as scarring, or more general ones, and it drastically reduces rectal bleeding. However, it should be limited to only one or two series of injections.
