[Treatment of anal fissure]

In order to understand fully the treatment of the anal fissure, a thorough knowledge of its pathogeny and clinical symptoms is necessary. The treatment involves special care where hygiene and diet are concerned, that is, regarding intestinal evacuation, and, in particular, constipation. The medical treatment consists of an eutrophic and healing medication. Treatment by physiotherapy, and especially diathermy, is hardly ever used now. As far as surgery is concerned, it consist, on sphincterotomy, either intracanal, or lateral and extramucous. Old or infected fissures must be removed.
