[Sclerotherapy with compression of internal and external saphenous vein junctions. Results]
Abstract:
This article is a 6 years review of 486 cases of compression sclerotherapy of the saphenous veins junctions. A 83,8% of positive results brings to the conclusion that there is a marked improvement over the previous technique described in this journal in 1976. The failures encountered have pushed us to seek a new technique and to experiment injection of the saphenous junction with booster shots. On short term, complete sclerosis were obtained in 88.6% of the treated cases while a 93.4% figure was obtained with a 1 to 2 years draw back. These encouraging figures give sclerotherapy an important place in the therapeutic arsenal of varicose veins.
