A therapeutic approach to postphlebitic ulceration

    Background:

    • Postphlebitic ulcers are chronic, difficult-to-heal wounds resulting from deep vein thrombosis.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy of a specific conservative office-based regimen for healing postphlebitic leg ulcers.

    • A multi-component regimen including oral antibiotics, zinc sulfate, topical gentian violet, specialized dressings, and compression bandaging was utilized.
    • Treatment was administered as an office procedure for 28 patients with postphlebitic ulceration.
